Random Thought for Wednesday

Happy Rainy Wednesday to You!

My mind is sort of all over the place today (and let's be honest, where I really want to be right now is snuggled up under a blankie watching Little Women with my hubs [who would be watching against his will] and an iced coffee) so I thought I'd write this down here.

I wish there were more hours in a day.  I wish that every day contained enough time to...
Work (8 hrs)
Spend some quiet time reading my Bible and in prayer (1-2 hrs)
Do something creative (paint, choreograph etc) (1-2 hrs)
Take dance classes (2-3 hrs)
Teach dance classes  (2-3 hrs)
Spend some good quality time with my husband (3+ hrs)
Spend some good quality time with at least 1 friend (2+ hrs)
Clean/run errands etc  (1 hr)
Sleep (7-8 hrs)

Everyday.  That's what I want.  But it just does not happen.  If you add up my estimates I'm already over 24 hours...
I think it's interesting that when the Lord created our world, he created days that on one hand can feel so long, yet at the same time feel so short.  All by his design that we will not accomplish everything we want every single day.  If we did, we'd probably become too self sufficient.  We'd feel like we don't need God because we've got our To-Do list and we're perfectly capable of taking care of it all.  There's not enough room for Jesus in a day like that.

Lord, thank you that in every way you created this world to point us towards you.  To call us to rely on you every day.  Help me to be wise and resourceful with the hours I have each day.  Help me to be productive, but never over listening to where you want to lead me and the spiritual opportunities you have in store for me.  Help me to walk beside you each day and change my perspective of what a "good day" is.  It's about you, not my To Do's.

In Jesus Name, AMEN

  1. I did the math here and if you just take out the sleep, you're good.
